| Highlights of 2003There were several highlights in 2003. Innovations in technology, design and decoration enabled Superfos to introduce new products in 2003 with a unique combination of looks, feeling and appeal. These introductions enable Superfos to add value and create preferences to our customers’ products. ScanPack – packaging in context Superfos’ presence at the ScanPack fair 2003 in Gothenburg, Sweden was a success. We had the opportunity to greet customers, press and competitors with our eye-catching packaging exhibited in a natural context - as a part of everyone’s everyday life, in the supermarket, at home and at work. Response has been positive on all fronts and shows good prospects for Superfos at Salon de L’emballage 2004. ScanStar Award for packaging design At the trade fair Superfos received a ScanStar Award for the RingLock solution for a new Norwegian children’s porridge product from Small People AS. The verdict was: A user friendly and practical packaging, which reach out and smiles at the consumer. SuperLock Introduction of the new SuperLock lid for plastic pots is a breakthrough with great potential. The new closure system, SuperLock, is based on a screw mechanism similar to that of glass containers, providing physical as well as perceptional proof that the seal has not been broken before purchase. This concept calls for custom moulding projects and high quantities. Lidding by automatic pack lines only. SuperLock can be used for all kinds of shapes and types of Superfos packaging, and provides the consumer with a ready-to-serve product. Design & Decoration Refinement and development of injection moulding techniques and IML-decoration resulted in plastic packaging, featuring both decoration quality and transparency equal to glass. At the same time, all advantages of plastic packaging are maintained, including low weight, easy handling and no risk of glass contamination. SuperFlex In spring 2003, the classic container SuperFlex was launched in a new and improved design, which increases decoration quality and provides for effective branding at a European level. Furthermore, the new design makes transport and handling more efficient both internally and for customers. Spoon in the lid In spring 2003, Arla Foods could launch a cottage cheese product Keso in the Swedish and Norwegian market in a new specially developed packaging for ready-to-eat products with a spoon moulded into the cap. A product break through that released this quote from a consumer: “I like the packaging; I love the spoon in the lid”. Unique packaging increases sales Reser’s Fine Foods experiences overwhelming success with a new oval Superfos container for refrigerated prepared salad products in the US. Don Graff, director of marketing at Reser’s Fine Foods, explained: “Our new oval container is a unique approach to pre-packaged salad marketing. The clear plastic offers superior product visibility, and its high-impact, upscale graphics contributes to consumers’ immediate recognition of the benefits of the container. As a result, sales increased more than 30 percent over a six-month period. And for our premium salads sales more than doubled”. Easy change of registration For several years, Superfos Pharma Pack has had a product database, as a vital part of our service concept. As an extension of our service concept we offer our support in relation to the documentation required for changes in registration/packaging, in accordance with the requirements of EU and US regulations. We have developed a procedure in relation to changes and can therefore ease the process for the customer in deciding the effect and extent of the changes in relation to registration Voice of Pharma Packs Customers Listening to customers is an essential part of our business development. Therefore, we carried out a customer satisfaction survey in the spring of this year. The feedback indicated that 95% of our customers are satisfied with the general co-operation with Superfos Pharma Pack (34% are very satisfied). We are pleased with the result but at the same time would reassure you that we will continue our endeavours to perform even better. Pharma Packs successful development requires more capacity Over the last 6 months we have seen a tremendous development in our business. Consequently, combined with the rapid growth in realized projects during the last period together with promising new ventures in the pipeline for the coming years, more capacity is required. We have therefore acquired the neighboring property to our production site in Værløse, Denmark. With this acquisition we will almost double our premises by 1st March 2004. |
